History / Description: The round trough fountain has three sinks in the middle and was erected in 1940 to commemorate the 300th anniversary membership of Kleinhueningen to Basel. The relief image shows farmers and fishermen, so the former inhabitants of the village Kleinhueningen. 

Special: The well is only accessible during the day. If the gate is closed, so you can see him very well from the schoolyard (51 village road).

Riehentorstrasse

Location: Riehentorstrasse, front of house 15 (restaurant "Zum Rebhaus")

History / Description: At the bottom of the fountain column has four niches that are occupied with music-making figures. In the middle crouching figures are attached. The column is surmounted by a lion, the emblem of the "Society for the Rebhaus" held in his paws. For this reason, the fountain is now called "Rebhaus Fountain". Before this in 1863 moved to its current location, the lion held the "Basel shield" in his paws. The original figure was released in 1883 to the Historical Museum. The first nachgehauene lion in 1900 and the second in 1968 destroyed by acts of vandalism.

Special: In the Renaissance period (1350 - 1600) armed representatives of the City or a guild or sometimes heraldic animals were on the well heads.

Leonhardsstrasse 6

Location: Leonhardsstrasse 6 (go in the courtyard of the Music Academy / through a gate)

History / Description: Christoph Merian Ehinger erected the fountain in 1813 in his backyard at Nadelberg 6/8. The "CE" is thus the abbreviation of his name. In 1873 the music school was established in these properties. 1903 the music school moved, today is becoming the Academy of Music, to its present location, Leonhardsstrasse 6. With the move and the fountain went right over to the new property. The trough was renewed, but the name plate is still the same. 

Special: The well is only accessible during the day. Otherwise, it can be seen from the gate.

History / Description: On the inscription of the plaque on the fountain column is to recognize who the construction of this beautiful fountain is due to. The water trough leans against the old building. This group of figures is a mother with three children. The female figure represents Caritas, a personification of the toiling love (caritas is latin for Charity, one of the 3 virtues).
Special: The fountain can only be visited in the day.

History / Description: The sculpture of the fountain was destroyed in 1992 by an act of vandalism. Without the figure looks the fountain, on the edge of a gargoyle is pretty "empty" from. The remains of the figure of Neptune made of red sandstone are stored in the warehouse of the Historical Museum. 

Special: Possibly a copy of the destroyed sculpture is created.

Fountain at 23-Jun-2012 was plain. Sometime about October 2012, a decorative column was added, dated 1706.

History / Description: The fountain floor is divided into three parts. The lower section has masks and the middle part is decorated with cherubs. The upper part is fitted with a bunch of flowers and fruit. This fountain is crowned by a shield-bearer armed with sword. He is the Count of Thierstein named Oswald, who led the war of the Burgundian nobles against Charles the Bold. The sign of the four letters SPQP means "senatus populusque basiliensis" and indicates that the Council and the people who built the well. One side of the flag is the coat of arms "to weavers' guild" and the other decorated with the Baslerstab. In addition to the foot of the standard bearer is a hedgehog. Previously Igelbälge were used as a tool for the production of "gray cloth". The hedgehog is therefore to be found still on the weavers banner. Since 1925, the original of the fountain stick along with the standard bearer is kept in the Historical Museum.
Special: With one exception - in Schwyz - were from 18 Century no more fountains crowned with  standard-bearers in Switzerland.

History / Description: The Carnival Fountain stands on the site, had earlier found the stage where the old town theater. Jean Tinguely took pieces of the old theater and formed so that the ten figures. You have the following names: "dr theater head", "d" spider "," dr waggler ',' d 'Fontääne "," dr splashes "," dr young wine "," dr Wäädel "," dr Schuufler "," s 'Seechter "and" dr Querpfyffer ". The well is operated at low power and was a gift to mark its 50th anniversary of Migros.

Special: On 14 June 2002, the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the fountain a great celebration. On the edge of the pool were innumerable torches, the water in the impressively reflected. This fiery, there were 25 gun salute. This fire spell would certainly like Jean Tinguely. Every now and then even a duck comes to visit. The ice is a big burden on the figures. In winter 1982/83 individual figures were shattered by the force of the ice into dozens of pieces. For this reason, the figures were reinforced with supports to prevent damage by ice as possible to keep within limits.

History / Description: The fish market is well into the professional world as the most beautiful Gothic fountain in Switzerland. 24 figures once adorned the fountain. Fortunately, today is still 22 (!) Get it. There are 13 angels, 6 and 3 Holy Prophet. The three main characters are Mary and Child, a scepter in his hand, Peter, standing with the key and the Evangelist John dar. The corner pillars of justice, perseverance and love. The wells must be maintained regularly with love. The last major renovation was in the 1971-1974 program, as the gilding had to be renewed.
Special: There was a long dispute over who should have because now built the well. Long thought to be it was Jacob Sarbach. In a book about Basel sculptures from the 15th and 16 Century could be convincing proof erbacht that it must be either John Parler (III). Slightly ironically, it was noted that Jacob could be Sarbach hardly more than responsible for the renovation ...

Spalenvorstadt - Schutzenmattstrasse

History / Description: The bottom of the column of the fountain is a replica of the "peasant dance" by Hans Holbein the Younger The column is crowned by a bagpiper. Basis for the piper for the artist was no doubt a dated from 1514 engraving by Albrecht Durer. The original of the bagpipe is preserved since 1885 at the Historical Museum.
Special: During the summer time, the bottom shell decorated with flowers.
