Nadelberg 4 (main)

History / description: On the fountain pillar stands a figure holding a water jug in her arms. The fountain has a rectangular trough and leans against the building. Already in 1357 the "Engelhof" appears in the files. Over the centuries, the property underwent many changes of ownership and therefore it is not surprising that only in one room wood carvings from earlier times are available. Today, parts of the University of Basel are housed here.
Special: The fountain can only be visited during working days during the day.




Nadelberg 6


Location: Inner courtyard of Nadelberg 6 (go through a large wooden door)

History / Description: The well trough is rectangular. On the pillar it has a triangular gable on which an acorn stands. The gargoyle juts out from the middle of the well column. The fountain is located in the courtyard of "Schöne Hus". This house is probably the oldest surviving residential building in Basel. Based on structural findings, it is believed that the house was built in the second quarter of the 13th century.
Special: The fountain can only be visited during working days during the day.




Nadelberg 8

History / description: From the wall stands a small fountain, which provides the wave-shaped trough with water. The trough stands on a pedestal.

Solitude Prommenade

Location: Solitude Park / Solitude-Promenade

History / Description: The water trough, whose side walls are decorated with various patterns, has a somewhat unusual form. The fountain column, from which protrudes a gargoyle is a plate on which a ball is completed. The fountain was previously in an estate on the Riehenstrasse.
Special: In Solitude Park is a large children's playground. At this park borders the generous Paul Sacher-Anlage. A few meters away is the world-famous Tinguely Museum.

Fischerweg

Location: corner Grenzacherstrasse / Fischerweg

History / Description:Fischweg fountain is a wall fountain. He has a small rectangular trough, standing on two stone pillars. To the gargoyle has an ornament.
Special: The fountain is located near the bus station "Rosengartenweg" so you can bridge the waiting time with a fountain splashing sitting. (But you should better make a little earlier than necessary on the way to the stop, otherwise there is a danger that the bus did not even stop. Except, of course, considering the "fountain sound" would like to enjoy a little while longer.)


Oberer Rheinweg

Location: Upper Rheinweg / Waisenhausmauer (Mean to Wettsteinbrücke towards the bridge)

History / Description: On the water trough are shown dancing figures. The water flows out of the mouth of a stone girl's head, which is attached directly to the wall of the orphanage. 
Special: From here you can continue to walk on the Rhine promenade in either direction Tinguely Museum or the triangle.

Erlenparkweg, Kinder Autobahn

History / Description: The fountain made of stone leans directly to the small building. The gargoyle protruding from the wall and is decorated with a bronze mold. 
Special: In the Lange Erlen it has still a floodplain forest, which is used for drinking water treatment. The forest is also a popular recreation area, which is supplemented by the zoo "Lange Erlen". Near the main entrance, it also has a restaurant and a bandstand, where making music from time to time.




Pumping Station Lange Erlen Woods



Pumping Station Lange Erlen Schorenweg 150

Location: Schorenweg 150 / pumping station "Lange Erlen" (go through a gate)

History / Description: The fountain has a round pool and a gargoyle. He stands in front of the pumping station "Lange Erlen", from where the finished drinking water is pumped into the pipeline network. The water is in pipes having a diameter of 40 - 100 cm, as a ring line pumped have 100 cm through the city. Connected to this are, among others, the two reservoirs on the Bruderholzstrasse (see fountain leader references 94 / 135 ).
Special: The well is located on a small children's playground. It is a long walk from the bus stop to the fountain needed.

St. Alban-Rheinweg

Location: St. Alban-Rheinweg / Old boat station (near the Rheinbad "Breite")

History / Description: For the construction of the Breite-Bad fountain sandstone was used. The fountain inspired by the seawall on both sides. The fountain protruding from the mouth of a stone mask. 
Special: The fountain stands near the Rheinbad "Breite", which was built in 1898. Here you can be protected from ships and piers, swim in the Rhine.
