History / Description: The sculpture, cast in bronze, is a seagull that landed on the Rhine Arriving on this ball. The open beak symbolizes a hungry gulls cry. The trough is rectangular and from the fountain column extends a water spout. Due to vandalism the gull had in 2000 to be replaced.
Special: The next "Birskopf" invites you to linger. In summer, many people here approve a bath in the river.

History / Description: The fountain of stone, on the rim two water spouts stand has wide walls, which are decorated with figures. Already in the 14th Century, the area was known under the name "The Plain of." The largest increase of local residents took place in the 1950s.

History / Description: The Swan cast iron stands with outstretched wings on the edge of the fountain. The trough, which was made of limestone, vase-shaped. Until the reorganization of the system in 1897, turned their backs on the two swans. The original concept was abandoned with the redesign and since then can "throw glances" the swans.
Special: In Basel there are three wells, "Swan Fountain" are called (Fountain leader references: 113/115). In the Reference 113 is a "partner well", which is identical to that well.

Kohlenberggasse 1

Location: Kohlenberggasse 1 (the Barfüsserplatz from Kohlberg go up> part of the path is a long flight of stairs)

History / Description: The trough is from another fountain from 1813. 1857, the trough was moved to this place and with a four-sided fountain column, which is crowned with a grenade fruit provided.
Special: Already in 1290 this area appears under the name "Ze Kolahusern" and after 1302 as "Mons Dictus Kolenhüsern" in the files. It was named after the coal miners, which caused the charcoal needs of the city. 1861 received its current name in the alley.
